Along with so many others around the world, I watched the horrific images of the catastrophic fire at Notre Dame Cathedral today. The fact that this happened during Holy Week seems to put a fine point on God's promises. The image here is the first I saw from the interior of the great church after the fire. It strikes me that the cross is so clearly prominent. It reminds me of a story I'd heard about a preacher who gave a Good Friday sermon simply saying "It's Friday, but Sunday's comin'." There are already calls for this world landmark to be rebuilt from the ashes, and France's President Macron has said as much. As we see the pictures and watch the videos of the spire succomb to the flames, it may feel like Friday, but let us remember that God always finds a way, and Sunday's comin'.
